Attend classes and study
Once you have registered, you will need to attend classes and study hard to prepare for the exams. The Second Chance matric program provides support to students in the form of classes and study materials. Make sure you attend all classes and use the study materials to help you prepare.

Classes are offered at 50 venues, mostly in rural and semi-rural areas in South Africa. Classes are taught by Grade 12 teachers who have an excellent track record and are FREE. 

Multimedia broadcasts include:

  • Telematics Broadcasts at selected schools
  • Internet Broadcasting Programme (IBP) at selected schools
  • HD Open View Television Broadcast s – Channel 201 at 36 venues, nationally or privately
  • Dstv Channel 319 , Mindset Television Broadcasts
  • SABC Education Geleza Nathi broadcasts weekdays on SABC 1 from 5am to 6am with repeats at 11pm
  • SABC Education Geleza Nathi YouTube videos

Write the exams
The October/November Matric Exams are usually held in October and November. Make sure you are well-rested and prepared for the exams. If you need any special accommodations, such as extra time or a scribe, make sure you arrange this in advance.

Receive your results
The results of the October/November Matric Exams are usually released in January of the following year. If you pass your exams, you will be awarded a matric certificate.
