SASSA APPEALS WILL OPEN MONDAY FOR DECLINED INDIVIDUALS

"Those who unfortunately received a declined R350 application status may appeal the decision as soon as the appeals process reopens. Here is when and how to appeal.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) announced that the appeal process is set to reopen on Monday 27 June 2022. Applicants may proceed with their appeals process by visiting the following website: https://srd.dsd.gov.za/.

Sassa’s new appeals system only applies to those who were declined from April 2022 onwards. In order to gain access to the website applicants will need their valid ID number and cellphone number.

When accessing the website, an internet connection and data will be required. Unfortunately, no appeals will be accepted through WhatsApp, cellphones and any other means of communication.

Appeals will need to be submitted as soon as a declined status is received to ensure that they receive a reply within 90 days.

Applications may be declined for a number of reasons, such as:

If SASSA finds that the applicant has been employed and it is indicated that they have made income tax contributions.
If the personal details provided do not match the ones from the Department of Home Affairs. 
If it is found that the applicant is a current recipient of a Social grant other than a child grant.
If the applicant is registered with and benefits from the National Student Fund Aid Scheme.
If the applicant qualifies for UIF benefits based on TERS or Contributions to UIF or is currently receiving the Unemployment Insurance Fund benefit.
The applicant is employed in a government institution.
If the applicant does not meet the age requirements or is above the age of 60.
If the beneficiary has been registered as deceased on the Department of Home Affairs database"
